  3. The interactive Talisman was designed in its' entirety on a Windows XP system.  It has been tested on Macintosh OS 8.5 - 9.2 as well as different flavors of OSX.

  6. KNOWN ISSUES (OSX)
  7. ------------------------------------------------

  9. Due to file association problems with OSX, even after the latest Flash plugin is installed, Flash movies will open in SimpleText instead of Internet Explorer or Safari.  In this case it is necessary to open your browser, select 'Open' from the 'File' menu and select the 'StartupModule.swf' file from the Talisman CD-ROM.

  11. At this point the movie should play fine although certain OSX systems will freeze after the initial startup file finishes.

  14. KNOWN ISSUES (OS 9 and OSX)
  15. ------------------------------------------------

  17. The Mac OS Flash plugin has issues with loading files from the CD-ROM dynamically into Flash movies.  This causes some systems not to display the Talisman Covers or Student Photos after they have been clicked.

  20. SETUP / AUTORUN / QUICKTIME 6
  21. ------------------------------------------------

  23. Quicktime 6 is required for the AutoRun menu to activate correctly.  If you have Quicktime 5 installed, the AutoRun will load but only the 'LAUNCH TALISMAN' option will be active.

  25. Quicktime 6 has been included on the CD-ROM under the Programs folder.  Simply select your flavor of Mac OS and follow the on-screen instructions.

  27. Once installation is complete, re-insert the CD-ROM and wait for the AutoRun menu.  If it doesn't appear in the next few seconds, double click the CD icon on your desktop and open the file 'MAR.mov'.

  30. FLASH 6 INSTALLATION

  33. If your system already has the Macromedia Flash 6 plugin installed in your web browser, simply click 'LAUNCH TALISMAN' and the application will run.

  35. Otherwise, click on 'Install Flash 6' and select to install for whichever OS you are using.

  37. The installation program will run automatically.  Simply follow the on-screen instructions.

  40. ACROBAT 6 INSTALLATION
  41. ------------------------------------------------

  43. The PDF files for the interactive Talisman require only Adobe Acrobat 4 however the most updated version of the program (version 6) has been included for your convenience.

  45. >From the AutoRun menu, select 'Install Acrobat 6' and select the OS version which you are using.

  47. The installation program will run automatically.  Simply follow the on-screen instructions.
